Engineering Technician

As an Engineering Technician you will apply a practical knowledge of the methods and techniques of civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering to plan, organize, coordinate, and perform contract administrative matters for a variety of construction projects for the regional Construction Office. A few major duties are:
monitoring contracts; preparing technical changes and associated documents; and preparing contracts for closeout. Monitoring contractor performance, providing technical oversight and review of contract design, specifications, and drawing requirements. Developing and executing work plans, schedules, and changes in office methods and technical procedures for the orderly accomplishment of work programs. You will also be responsible for logging communications with contractors received through a central email source used for all construction projects and insuring that proper dispersion of these communications is carried out. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
GS-9:
One year performing construction estimator, survey technician, engineering aid/ technician, or equivalent hands-on field work in support of construction or engineering functions.GS-10:
In addition to the requirements for the GS-9 level; One year performing in-office duties supporting design engineers in plan review, simple designs, and contract administration under supervision. Drafting experience in civil or electrical fields may be used in lieu of simple designs and contract administrative duties.GS-11:
One year performing Engineering Technician work in support of heavy civil or electrical construction projects.GS-12:

Ability to review engineering designs and contract documents for accuracy, technical compliance, economics, quality, safety, and constructability. Ability to work collaboratively in a team with external customers, coworkers. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
